Monroe County schools planning on referendum, but when is the question

It’s now a question of when, not if, regarding a funding referendum to support Monroe County community schools.

MCCSC officials intend to conduct a referendum — and have initiated consultations with referendum experts Don Lifto and Brad Senden, among others — but timing clearly remains an issue.

A funding referendum could come as early as Nov. 2, or perhaps not till the spring of 2011, the fall of 2011 or even later. And the timing matters, not only in terms of a referendum’s chances for success, but regarding how soon money becomes available
