LAFAYETTE — Integra LifeSciences filed a notice with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development indicating that it will close its Lafayette Acell Inc. plant in late April.
In an email, the company explained that it will move the manufacturing of its tissue products and technologies for hernia, abdominal wall repair called Urinary Bladder Matrix, to its location in Columbia, Maryland.
“As part of our integrated growth strategy, we continually evaluate ways we can strengthen our operational efficiency to better serve our customers, innovate new treatment pathways and maximize the impact we have on restoring patients’ lives,” a spokesman from Integra told the Journal & Courier.
“The company anticipates that the permanent closure of the facility will result in the termination of all employees at the facility, except one employee who will continue in a remote role.
"We greatly appreciate the valuable contributions our Lafayette colleagues have made to Integra, our customers, and patients. The company is providing support and transition services and working closely with the Rapid Response team at WorkOne in Lafayette.”
