John Gregg clearly defines what he would and would not be as governor.

“I’m not here to be the bathroom monitor,” the Democrat, who is running for governor again, told an enthusiastic crowd early Sunday evening during the Hamilton Friends and Family Picnic at Bryan Park. “I’m here to work on the economy and see that members of the LGBT community (get) equal protection.”

Before his brief speech to an enthusiastic crowd at the picnic, Gregg said even though his opponent has changed — Republican Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb is running for the seat now that Gov. Mike Pence is on the presidential ticket — the issues are the same.

Gregg still is talking about public education, high-wage jobs, infrastructure and the state’s drug epidemic, among other issues.

And even though his opponent’s name has changed, he’s still running against the same ideals Pence holds.

“It’s Mike Pence,” he said of Holcomb. “It’s just a different name.”
