The Indiana Department of Transportation will spend $100 million for road and bridge repairs to the four-county area over the next five years.

The funding was announced Thursday as part of Gov. Eric Holcomb's Next Level Indiana road plan.

Parts of the Lloyd Expressway/Indiana 62 will be resurfaced in 2018 and 2019 for $9.56 million. Overall, Vanderburgh County will receive $33.5 million to repave 113 miles of lanes and repair or replace six bridges.

Southwestern Indiana didn't fare as well as other parts of the state in the five-year plan. Vanderburgh County, the eighth most populous county in the state, ranks 27 off 92 Indiana counties in the amount the state will spend on road projects. However, the state has plans for 2023 and 2024 to completely replacement the pavement on the Lloyd Expressway/Indiana 62 and U.S. 41. Each project could cost $60 million.

None of the 11 counties that make up Southwestern Indiana made the top 20 list on the state's road plan.

For Warrick County, INDOT will spend $18.79 million resurfacing 112 lane miles and fixing 17 bridges. Key projects include pavement work on Indiana 66 for $4.26 million in 2020 and a road overlay on Indiana 161 for $4.04 million in 2020.

Gov. Eric Holcomb, Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and INDOT Commissioner Joe McGuinness will be in Evansville Friday morning to announce the state's road construction plan at INDOT's Evansville office, 16601 N. Boyle Lane.

INDOT plans to resurface nearly 10,000 miles of roadway and repair or replace about 1,300 bridges over the next five years.
