JEFFERSONVILLE — Cylicron LLC, a Jeffersonville industrial roller and cylinder manufacturer, is establishing a new company at its Maritime Road facility, which will create 15 jobs that pay an average of $22 an hour.

The company, which creates bases for the rotogravure printing industry at its Jeffersonville location, is asking for a fiveyear tax abatement from the city for $750,000 in new equipment the business needs to buy.

Cylicron wants to start an electrical panel manufacturing business because it’s

a “booming industry,” said company president Frank Atkins. The new business, which doesn’t have a name yet, will take up 24,000-square feet in Cylicron’s 280,000-square foot building. (The facility is also home to Revere Plastic).

Cylicron currently employs 46 in Jeffersonville, and has been in the city since around 2005.

The company is seeking some financial help from the city and the state to help with the startup costs of creating a new business, Atkins said.

Cylicron was originally also considering Kentucky for its new venture, said Economic and Redevelopment Director Rob Waiz.

“We wanted to do what we could to actually have them form their company there [at Maritime Road],” Waiz said.

The city’s redevelopment commission has signed off on the abatement, and on Nov. 6, the city council is slated to pass a final ruling on the matter.

Atkins said that Cylicron wants to keep jobs in Clark County.

“We’re happy with the county we’re in,” he said.

If all goes as planned, Cylicron’s electrical panels business will start manufacturing in the first quarter of 2018. By the end of year two, the company hopes to double its number of employees. The new business will pay, on average, more than the average wage in Clark County.
