ELKHART — Fusion cuisine melding different cultures food into a single dish has been all the rage in cooking circles.
The Elkhart County Convention and Visitors Bureau is using that concept to market the region as a fusion between the hustle and bustle of urban life and the slower pace of Amish Country.
The agency partnered with the Indiana Office of Tourism Development to produce a 30-second TV commercial using the urban-rural fusion concept, which is being shown in the Chicago and Indianapolis media markets, according to a press release.
The commercial features footage from Amish Acres, Artisan, Found, Goshen Brewing Co., Ignition Music, the Old Bag Factory and Quilt Gardens. It invites viewers to enjoy the Elkhart area's range of attractions like downtown galleries, shops, restaurants and nightlife in Elkhart and Goshen; scenic vistas found in parks and outdoor gardens; and the getaway of Amish Country with its rural landscapes and home-cooked comfort food.
“The chance to be partners with the Indiana Office of Tourism Development is one that couldn’t be passed up,” said Diana Lawson, chief executive officer of the convention and visitors bureau. “We’re so happy that we can spotlight the amazing diversity of experiences people can have when they spend their free time here. From concerts to stunning works of art to great outdoors experiences and the relaxed rural lifestyle, we have it all here.”
