Infosys partners with Purdue to train its expected 10,000 new employees

The partnership comes after Infosys announced in May that it would open a technology hub in Indianapolis for up to 2,000 new employees. As part of the deal, Infosys could receive up to $31 million in conditional tax credits and training grants, the largest incentive package in state history.

The Indianapolis hub is the first step of Infosys' plan to hire 10,000 American workers in the the next two years, a major shift for the company that's drawn unwanted attention for hiring Indian engineers on H-1B visas and outsourcing their lower cost labor to U.S firms.

Purdue will provide classes and training on its West Lafayette campus for many of the 10,000 new employees, according to a news release. The partnership also includes specialist online courses for current Infosys workers. 

The partnership doesn't have a dollar amount attached to it yet, according to Steve Tally, a Purdue spokesman. But, he said, Infosys' investment in the project will be significant.
