MORGAN COUNTY – The Morgan County Commissioners voted Monday to approve hiring United Consulting to work on improving access to property along the future I-69 development.

The commissioners approved spending no more that $20,000 on the study. The county’s redevelopment commission will pay half the cost.

At this time, several county officials have stated that access to some areas north of Henderson Ford Road and south of Ind. 144 is limited to the point that future development in those areas could be affected.

Consultants from the company will meet Thursday morning with county officials to discuss specific concerns about access and development. There were some concerns the state does not know about the proposed waste water treatment plant proposed for the Waverly area or the proposed area along Ind. 37 which could be used for commercial development.

After meeting with county officials, the company will make a formal request to the state with an eye toward having more frontage roads and overpasses installed.
