Forty-five laid off from Bloomington Printpack manufacturing plant

According to a press release Tuesday, the plant recently lost its largest customer, which was not named. Printpack, at 5550 W. Vernal Pike, produces flexible and specialty rigid packaging in the form of pouches, flat-bottom bags, lids, plastic containers and medical packaging. Founded in 1956 and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the international packaging company now has more than 3,700 associates across 19 manufacturing facilities in the United States, Mexico and China.

"Printpack does not undertake these layoffs lightly," Clay Castleberry, vice president of operations, said in the press release. "We value our Bloomington workforce and are working hard to restore full capacity operations in Bloomington."
