PERRY COUNTY – The Indiana Department will spend more than $15 million over the next five years in Perry County to resurface 81 lane miles of roadway and will rehabilitate or replace eight bridges under a Next Level Roads Plan announced last week.

Gov. Eric Holcomb joined INDOT Commissioner Joe McGuinness last week at several locations to unveil the plan.

Of the $15.9 million, nearly $3.5 million will be spent next year, with the balance spread out over the next four years. More than $6.6 million is forecast to be invested in roads and bridges in 2019.

Work is also planned to replace smaller pipes and culverts on Indiana 62 at a combined cost of $729,000.
Bridge deck projects will take place next year on Indiana 66 over Little Oil Creek about five miles east of Derby at  cost of $465,000 and over Deer Creek near Rocky Point for $448,000

The most expensive project next year will be replacing the bridge deck over Poison Creek near Derby. That work will cost $1.5 million.

Looking ahead, major paving projects are planned in 2019. Indiana 62 will be resurfaced from St. Meinrad to Kitterman Corner for an estimated $2.1 million. Indiana 66 from Cannelton to Derby will be resurfaced in 2019.
That work will cost more than $5.5 million.

In 2021, a slide on Indiana 62 will be corrected just east of the intersection with Indiana 37 near St. Croix. It carries an estimated $254,000 price tag.

Perry County’s work on the Next Level Roads Plan will wrap up in 2021, with pipe and culvert replacement projects on Indiana 62 and Indiana 145.
