Enplanements at Evansville Regional Airport totaled 107,598 for the first six months of the year, topping the 100,623 figure for the same period of 2016, an increase of nearly 7 percent.

EVV officials said 20,662 people boarded planes at the airport during June, making it the airport's busiest month since June 2007, when there were 20,850 enplanements.

Airport manager Doug Joest said work soon will begin on phase one of the airport's $12.36 million terminal renovation project. The first phase involves building an addition on the terminal's southeast side, which will house the administrative office and board room.

Phases two and three will cover the airport's parking lot and interior. The project will be the terminal's first major renovation since it was built in 1988.
