Fort Wayne Metals Advanced Materials Development, located in Columbia City, is expanding its operations and adding 15 new jobs, according to a Whitley County Economic Development Corp. statement Oct. 4.

Advanced Materials Development is a subsidiary of Fort Wayne Metals Research Products Corp. The company manufactures precision wire and related components for use in medical devices and other applications.

The company, located at 2300 E. Cardinal Drive in Gateway Park in Columbia City, employs 41 people and will add 15 additional jobs.

The Whitley County Council approved a 10-year tax abatement in support of the project, at the request of the Whitley County EDC.

The company plans to invest $12 million in new equipment at the facility to expand its melting capacity for producing stainless steel, nickel, cobalt, nitinol and titanium alloys, and composite materials.
