JEFFERSONVILLE — Optum, a health services business, is consolidating its operations within River Ridge Commerce Center, leaving 75,000-square feet of office space available for another tenant.
Optum, which is owned by UnitedHealth Group, will be moving from its 200 Patrol Road facility into BriovaRx’s 1050 Patrol Road building by the end of the year. BriovaRx, a “specialty pharmacy” is part of Optum.
Optum decided to consolidate after evaluating its real estate needs in the commerce center, said Tony Marusic, UnitedHealthcare's communications director.
Employment numbers for Optum in Jeffersonville are staying the same despite the move, Marusic added, but UnitedHealth Group employees at the facility will now work from home.
Marusic did not say how many people were employed by Optum in River Ridge, but the company announced it was hiring for 105 positions last November.
“Nobody’s losing their jobs there,” he said.
Optum's move does leave Capstone Realty without a tenant for one of its five River Ridge buildings. The company will start marketing the facility soon, said Stan Franczek, the CEO of Capstone Realty.
Capstone is willing to subdivide the building for multiple tenants if needed. The facility would be ideal for a customer service “call center” like Optum was, Franczek said.
Capstone’s other River Ridge buildings are mostly full, but the company is building a sixth within the commerce center, at the corner of Trey Street and Logistics Avenue near The Opus Group’s distribution center.
Capstone River Ridge Center Six will be 85,000-square feet and built for either offices or a distribution center. Construction on the building won’t start until next year, Franczek said.
