Locks on the doors at Eagle Pointe Golf Resort were changed Monday, and the golf course, restaurant and pro shop are now closed until further notice.

A U.S. trustee, who now manages the 131-acre property, directed Pointe Service Association to oversee the winterizing of the golf course and facilities, as well as the lock changes. The homeowners association represents 19 villages with about 900 total residents near the golf resort on Lake Monroe.

“The trustee has chosen and formally designated the PSA to coordinate the work to secure the property and winterize the course and facilities,” wrote Jeff Norris, president of Pointe Service Association, on the association’s Facebook page.

The business declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September, less than a year after purchasing Eagle Pointe Golf Resort for $1.4 million in December 2016. A judge converted the bankruptcy to Chapter 7 or liquidation bankruptcy on Nov. 2. A court trustee, Indianapolis lawyer Deborah Caruso, was appointed by the Southern District of Indiana’s U.S. Bankruptcy Court following the hearing in the bankruptcy case of Eagle Pointe’s owner, Pointe Properties.

Association past-president Bob Schippnick has spoken with the court trustee on behalf of the homeowners association and will manage the winterization process, such as clearing the irrigation systems on the course and disconnecting water in the buildings. The trustee will pay for the projects, and Schippnick expects them to be completed this week.
