The City of Madison Redevelopment Commission has agreed to provide tuition cost assistance for student training at Madison Consolidated High School.

Redevelopment Commission members during a meeting Tuesday approved $49,400 in funds to the dual-credit training program within the MCHS curriculum.

School officials and students made a presentation during the Redevelopment Commission’s November meeting and told members how the dual-credit programming through Ivy Tech Community College’s Madison campus has changed their lives for the better. The programs provide students the opportunity to graduate from high school with welding certifications that will allow them to be employed within the community.

Carl Glesing, a Madison Consolidated Schools board member and a non-voting member of the Redevelopment Commission, thanked the other members for their support of the high school’s initiatives.

“We’re hoping to see good things coming out of that program,” said Joe Craig, Redevelopment Commission president.
