RICHMOND – A former grocery store on the city's south side was sold for nearly $1.3 million Wednesday.
The now-closed Marsh store at 1301 S. E St. was sold during a Wayne County Sheriff Sale to Wells Fargo bank. The sale price was $1,288,511.75, and the bank was the sole bidder on the property.
The 14,730-square-foot building was home to a Marsh grocery store until it closed in March 2017; it has sat vacant since the closure. The location was shuttered amid mounting financial issues for the now-defunct regional grocer.
The last remaining Marsh store in Richmond, 501 National Road W., is now called Needler's, after it was bought with several others by Ohio-based grocer Fresh Encounter.
