Mark Hill surprised members of the Knox County Chamber of Commerce Wednesday afternoon by announcing that the Knox County United Way had not only met its fundraising goal but had exceeded it.

Hill, the executive director of the organization, last week said the United Way came in just under its goal of $325,000. But after doing some recalculating and taking in a handful of last-minute donations from businesses in Daviess County, the final total turned out to be more than $332,000.

“We had fun. We had a good time,” Hill told chamber members gathered at Vincennes University's Robert E. Green Activities Center. “We thought the odds were astronomical, but we got there.
