The realignment of IPFW will result in two schools with new names: Purdue University Fort Wayne and Indiana University Fort Wayne.

The Purdue trustees voted Friday for the name change; Indiana trustees did the same last week. In a news release, Purdue noted the change is pending approval of the realignment by the Higher Learning Commission.

Students on campus had mixed reactions after the Purdue announcement Friday.

Hospitality and tourism major Halle Chambers of Kokomo said, “it would be a little difficult getting used to” the new name. But, she added, the change didn't really affect her because her degree was always going to be through Purdue.
