ELKHART — The number of recreational vehicles shipped in February continued the upward trend the RV industry has been experiencing for over a year. 

Manufacturers shipped 39,428 units in February, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, representing a 9.7 percent increase over February 2016, when 35,929 units where shipped. Shipments in February also saw an 8.6 percent gain over the 33,859 units shipped in January 2017. 

"February’s total shipments are the best for any comparable February on record, maintaining the strong RV market growth from last year," RVIA spokesman Bill Baker wrote in his monthly statement.

Towable RVs were once again the most shipped segment of RVs, manufacturers shipped 33,852 in February a gain of 7.5 percent over January's total of 28,391. Conventional travel trailers saw the most growth in February with 25,234 shipped, a 10 percent increase over the same period in 2016.
