INDIANAPOLIS – Vice President Mike Pence returned to Indianapolis on Friday to tout tax reform but also addressed school violence on the same day as the nation's latest shooting.

“No child, no teacher should ever be in danger in an American school,” he said, noting actions that President Donald Trump has taken to make schools safer.

This includes a program providing $50 million annually to create anonymous reporting systems for threats and pay for improvements to school security infrastructure.

“This is another heartbreaking day in America – for students, for parents,” Pence said. “It's clear we have much more work to do.”

He moved quickly to listing “promises made, promises kept” by the administration and then focused on the subject of the day – tax cuts.

“When I was governor of the Hoosier State, I was pretty proud. But under President Trump, Indiana's economy is booming like never before,” Pence said.
