Competition in the grocery industry has been enveloping our area throughout the past year.

It’s no longer just about giving customers the best deals. Grocery stores everywhere are offering some version of a click-and-collect service, where customers can order their items online then pick them up later. Martin’s Super Markets, the pre-eminent local chain, beat others to the punch on that front locally.

Martin’s recently marked one year since beginning its Groceries-to-Go program at Mishawaka’s Heritage Square location. Seven stores now offer Groceries-to-Go with more on the way.

“I expect we’ll be offering it at many additional locations soon,” said Amy Simeri McClellan, vice president for sales and marketing at Martin’s. “It’s been very well received.”

Other area grocers have been following suit in some form or another.
