WEST LAFAYETTE -Work started Friday to install permanent lights at Ross-Ade Stadium.

The $5.6 million project, which was approved by the Board of Trustees in October, is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 25.

Purdue is scheduled to host Ohio on Friday, Sept. 8. It's the first scheduled night game at Ross-Ade Stadium since Notre Dame visited in 2013.

According to purduesports.com, 11 of the 15 light poles will be placed on the east side and one in each of the four corners of the stadium. Ribbon-style lighting will connect the 11 east-side poles and will be replicated on the west side, attached to a new 360-foot catwalk atop the Ross-Ade Pavilion.

“This system will result in very even distribution of light down the entire length of the field,” said Steve Simmerman, senior associate athletics director for facilities, told purduesports.com.

The lights will yield 320,000 total watts of power and more than 36 million lumens of light output.
