ESPN is reporting Larry Bird is stepping down as president of the Indiana Pacers.

General Manager Kevin Pritchard is taking over, according to the sports network.

Bird, 60, coached the Pacers from 1997 to 2000. In 2003, he became the president of basketball operations, He retired in 2012, but returned after a year off.

As a player, Bird was star at Indiana State and then the Boston Celtics, acquiring the nickname “Larry Legend” along the way.

During his three years at ISU, he averaged 30.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game.

With Boston, he was a 12-time all-star, three-time MVP and two-time finals MVP, picking up three National Basketball Association championship rings.

He also has the distinction of being the only person in the NBA to be named MVP, coach of the year and Executive of the Year.
