JEFFERSONVILLE — The City of Jeffersonville is growing — as evidenced by the approval of several developments at Tuesday night’s Jeffersonville Plan Commission Meeting.

Here are a few of the projects in the works, including new restaurants and a factory expansion.

KFC, WAFFLE HOUSE LOCATING TO IND. 62

A Kentucky Fried Chicken is the latest business to be confirmed at a 4.8 acre development across from the McDonald’s on Ind. 62.

A Waffle House, Huck’s gas station and another unconfirmed business will also be a part of the commercial development, which is being developed by Lenfert Properties.

Brian Lenfert, owner of Lenfert Properties, said that the final plot of land without a tenant has received a lot of interest, notably from another restaurant and a bank.

The Jeffersonville Plan Commission approved a development plan and granted a minor plat approval for the KFC on Tuesday night.

The KFC will be built in an updated style and employ about 25 full- and part-time people, said Kimra Schleicher, the business’ franchisee.

Schleicher hopes to have the KFC open by the end of October or the beginning of November.

AUTONEUM EXPANSION

Autoneum, a manufacturer noise and heat protection systems for automobiles, now has city approval to expand its approximately 300,000-square foot River Ridge facility by 144,000-square feet.

The Jeffersonville Plan Commission approved a development plan for the expansion at Tuesday’s meeting.

Scott Moser, project engineer, said that Autoneum had originally planned to expand its facility by 111,000-square feet, but that an additional business deal for the company required them to expand more.

Moser previously appeared at a River Ridge Development Authority meeting where he and another representative for the project said that the expansion would include warehousing and manufacturing capabilities.

At the plan commission meeting, Moser said that the expansion could bring 50 more jobs to the area.

NEW TENANT FOR JEFFERSONVILLE COMMONS

A MainSource Bank location is coming to Jeffersonville Commons, a large commercial development along 10th Street.

The bank is the second tenant to be confirmed for Jeffersonville Commons. A Kroger is also coming to the development.

Jeffersonville Commons, which sits across from another in-the-works development, Jefferson Ridge, will include a medical campus, retail buildings to its side and its front, a gas station and six outlot buildings facing the road.

The MainSource location will take one of those outlots.

Jeffersonville Planning and Zoning Director Nathan Pruitt said that the development plan appearing before the plan commission was a good thing.

“It shows [Jeffersonville Commons] is moving along,” he said.

The city’s road work on 10th street is also progressing, he added.
