MUNCIE — In his latest State of the City address, Mayor Dennis Tyler said Muncie was a city "moving forward" and cited partners and assets that contribute to the community.

"Muncie is moving in the direction they need to be moving today," Tyler told the breakfast crowd Wednesday morning at the Horizon Convention Center.

Tyler talked about accomplishments and improvements, including the boost in employment by graduates of the Erskine Green Training Institute at the downtown Courtyard by Marriott hotel.

The mayor repeatedly cited youth, at the end bringing all the K-12 students in the room up on stage.

Tyler expressed his support, as he has in recent years, for Muncie Community Schools and local teachers, citing only briefly pending action in the Legislature that would give some control over MCS to Ball State University.

The university, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Ivy Tech Community College and the chamber of commerce were all cited for their partnerships with the city.
