A methadone clinic is expected to open in Bloomington by next summer.

State officials on Wednesday announced plans for the clinic, one of two new opioid treatment centers, set open in Indiana by June 30, 2018.

Bloomington’s opioid treatment center will be managed by Limestone Health, an affiliate of behavioral-health hospital Sycamore Springs. Sycamore Springs, a 48-bed hospital based in Lafayette, provides addiction and mental health inpatient and outpatient services including hospitalization and therapy for those recovering from substance use disorders.

Limestone Health offers medication-assisted treatment with prescription medications such as methadone and suboxone.

The behavioral-health hospital will manage two of the state’s newest clinics, the one in Bloomington and one in Lafayette. The state also announced it will add treatment programs in Johnson, Vigo and Allen counties.

More than 10,000 Hoosiers were treated last year as part of opioid treatment programs, said Indiana Family and Social Services Administration Secretary Jennifer Walthall.
