INDIANAPOLIS - A shadowy nonprofit is running social media ads supporting Gov. Eric Holcomb's roads plan and no one seems to know why.

"We are not familiar with this group," said Holcomb Spokeswoman Stephanie Wilson.

American Policy Coalition has Twitter ads urging Hoosiers to call their representatives and senators to support a roads plan.

It says "Governor Eric Holcomb has a plan for Indiana's infrastructure that will improve our roads, empower local governments, balance the budget and ensure a sustainable funding structure in the long run."

Actually Holcomb never presented a road funding plan. He gave some general guidelines of funding options he would accept but didn't put a specific number on what amount needed to be raised.

Republican leaders in the Indiana House and Senate have crafted the plan and are in the final days of hammering out details. The proposal would include gas tax increases and other vehicle fees but the full scope has not been finalized.
