Allen County government entities will soon have a clear picture of how property tax cuts are expected to affect their budgets over the next several years.
Local government leaders across the state have stressed that they don’t know how they will be able to fund everything after property tax reform that was approved by state lawmakers last year. Senate Enrolled Act 1 will gradually reduce property taxes each year until 2031.
The Allen County commissioners on Friday approved $50,000 for property tax analysis from consulting firm Baker Tilly. Every Allen County taxing unit will receive a report that shows how the changes will affect what they receive each year. That includes cities, towns, townships and schools.
