Housing and Amazon’s data center lead the way for the upcoming week in Region government.

Here’s what to watch this week:

Crown Point City Council: Monday, May 4, at 6 p.m.at  City Hall, 101 N. East St.

The Crown Point City Council will consider a pair of rezonings tied together that could lead to a 172-unit subdivision on the city’s southeast side.

The Plan Commission approved the rezonings, 6-1, last week despite concerns from residents about the growth. The rezonings are being requested by Lennar Homes, which is looking to construct housing in an R-2 zone, which allows a higher density than the land is currently zoned for.

See the council’s full agenda on the city website.

Hobart City Council: Wednesday, May 6, at 6 p.m. at: City Hall, 414 Main St.

The Hobart City Council will consider an annexation and several zoning changes at its next meeting on Wednesday.

Clay 138 LLC is asking for nearly 140 acres of property at the northwest corner of U.S. 30 and Clay Street to be rezoned from residential to light manufacturing. The council approved the first reading of the rezoning, and approval on the second reading will finalize the change.

The rezoning is stipulated on a “full development agreement and development plan,” as well as an understanding that Clay Street needs to be widened to accommodate the future development.

The council will also consider a second reading of a rezoning that will alter a B-3 zone to a PUD zone, which will allow for additional business development on a 27-acre property near 61st Avenue and Liverpool Road. The property will then be used for the Northwind North Technology Park.

The full agenda and packet are available on the City of Hobart’s website.

Hobart Plan Commission: Thursday, May 7, at 6:30 p.m. at Hobart City Court at the PCC Building, 705 E. 4th St.

The Hobart Plan Commission will consider a rezoning for a new 63-lot subdivision near 39th Avenue and Maple Street.

The commission will also consider a variety of rezonings and hundreds of acres of site plans related to the proposed Amazon data center. The site plan will cover about 555 acres, according to the agenda.

See the full Plan Commission agenda on the City of Hobart website.
