For some students on IU's Bloomington campus, concerns about unwanted sexual contact shape their evening plans.

“I feel like people are planning their night around which environment might make them feel the safest, ” Indiana University student Hannah Zeldin said.

There is a growing sense of frustration among students about sexual assaults.

Amid controversy regarding the IU Police Department's reporting practices for on-campus sexual assaults, the number of reports this semester continue to rise. Greek life leaders responded by suspending events between fraternities and sororities.

Between Nov. 5 and Nov. 10, three rapes were reported on IUPD’s crime log. The new entries in the crime log came shortly after reports of further sexual crimes at a campus fraternity house on Halloween, but two of the new reports involved incidents that occurred in months prior. The crime logs list more than 30 sexual crimes at IU Bloomington this semester alone.
