WEST LAFAYETTE — The Purdue Climate Change Research Center has connected Indiana with discussions of what needs to be done to reduce fossil fuel emissions at the Glasgow Climate Change Conference, according to a Purdue press release.

With this conference happening in Glasgow, Jeff Dukes, the Purdue forestry and natural resources professor and director of the Purdue Climate Change Research Center, explained why thinking about every state, including Indiana, in relation to fossil fuel emissions should be an important outcome of the conference.

As such, the Purdue Climate Change Research Center recently released some animations to illustrate the climate changes happening in Indiana.

“Every region of the world is contributing to climate change in some way,” Dukes said. “These animations provide local context to the Glasgow negotiations. There are many things we can do in our own state that will minimize our contribution to climate change and help insulate us from the impacts.”

The animations released by Purdue show how climate change impacts Indiana's corn production, and how its effects will reduce corn production 12 percent by 2050.
