GOSHEN — Goshen city government has a question for the community: How do you see the city growing and developing over the next 10 or more years?
As part of a recently launched process for creating a new growth strategy, city officials are seeking community input to determine general attitudes and perceptions about growth, according to a news release.
The purpose of a growth plan is to provide officials, residents and developers with a tool to drive development in an orderly manner that is consistent with community goals and values, the release notes.
As part of that effort, the city recently contracted with Abonmarche Consultants and the Indiana Communities Institute at Ball State University to create the new growth strategy.
Over the next few months, the city will collect community input, beginning with a recently launched survey.

In addition, the city will also be hosting a series of listening sessions and focus groups this month in an effort to gain a diverse set of opinions from area residents.
As currently planned, the four listening sessions will take place on the following dates:
• Aug. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at Rieth Interpretive Center, 410 W. Plymouth Ave.
• Aug. 17 at 8 a.m. in Schrock Pavilion at Shanklin Park, 411 W. Plymouth Ave.
• Aug. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the St. John Church gym, 109 W. Monroe St.
• Aug. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Schrock Pavilion at Shanklin Park, 411 W. Plymouth Ave.
“Goshen continues to thrive as a community people are choosing to live in, work in and visit,” Deputy Mayor Mark Brinson said when referencing the new growth strategy. “This plan will help guide future growth in a smart and intentional way. It is critical that we carefully manage future growth to preserve the high quality of life we enjoy.”
