This week, Fayette County has slipped back to a level orange from a level blue.
Many other Indiana counties have received orange designations as well.
The positivity rate in Fayette County is 7.44 percent. Last week the county was at 1.88 percent.
Across the state spiked numbers have been reported. Fountain County is at a level red.
“Our county, as well as the whole state, has seen a spike in cases over the last two weeks,” Fayette County Health Officer Wayne White said. “Most of the cases have been attributed to nursing homes.
“Congregate gatherings such as family and friend reunions and dining out are also contributing.”
White said we simply need to continue common sense efforts to mediate the virus. These things include social distancing, mask wearing, washing hands, and not going to work when sick.
“We recommend gathering outside whenever possible by using gas heaters and bonfires as the weather turns colder.”
White said all of Fayette County’s recent deaths have been attributed to nursing home cases.
