Franklin County Health officials announced Thursday the first known suspected COVID-19 related death of a Franklin County citizen.

The person, a male in his 60's, had been in the care of doctors at an Indiana hospital since March 13. No further information about the patient will be released due to privacy laws.

In Fayette County, Health Department employees continue to monitor the coronavirus situation. To date, three presumptive positive cases had been reported, but there was nothing new to report on Thursday, Matt Sherck, environmental specialist, said.

The Fayette County Board of Commissioners met Monday and approved giving county employees nine added sick days for use related to the COVID-19 public health emergency. County employees can stay home if they feel sick or can be ordered home if their department head believe it is in the interest of other employees.
