RICHMOND — The grim COVID-19 milestones keeping coming at a rapid pace for Wayne County as the death toll reaches 70, Reid Health nears 100 patients in containment areas and the county moves up again in the state's metrics for community spread.

Nearly half of Wayne County's total deaths from the novel coronavirus now have come this month, with nine over the past two days bringing the November total to 32.

The county remained orange on the Indiana State Department of Health's latest edition of the color-coded map that measures community spread, but a continued rise in positivity rate brings it one step closer to red, the worst category.

Only one county — Rush — is in the yellow category this week across the state. Seventeen counties are red, including Fayette and Franklin.

Wayne County's average score this week was 2.5, which means we're still seeing moderate to high community spread.
