RICHMOND — Wayne County last week recorded its lowest weekly total of new laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases in a year, according to state statistics.

The Indiana State Department of Health update Monday shows six new Wayne County cases June 14-20. That's the first Monday-through-Sunday week in single digits since there were nine new cases June 15-21, 2020. The six is the lowest total since there were also six new cases June 1-7, 2020.

The state uses the Monday-Sunday period to calculate county metric scores.

With the six new cases and a seven-day positivity rate of 1.3%, Wayne County will continue in the blue advisory level this week with a 0.5 metric score. All of the Indiana counties surrounding Wayne County also will continue with blue metric scores this week.

Henry County added eight new cases during the scoring period, but Randolph and Franklin counties each had just one new case and Fayette and Union counties did not record a new case.
