MUNCIE — COVID-19 statistics across the entire state are at some of the best rates since the onset of the pandemic well over a year ago, showing how statewide vaccine efforts have helped things improve.
All but seven of Indiana's counties are now at a blue ranking, one of the best rankings available, according to the state's weekly statistics update.
The Indiana State Department of Health assigns every county a color each week based on its weekly case total per 100,000 residents and positivity rate. Each of those two categories is given a score and then averaged to determine rank.
Blue is the best rank, for counties with the lowest COVID-19 spread, with the color-coding increasing from blue to yellow, orange and then red depending on a community's spread.
All of East Central Indiana is classified as a blue rank. Locally, both Delaware and Grant were listed as orange the week prior. This week, only Newton, White, Fulton, Clinton, Boone, Montgomery and Owen counties were listed in the yellow category
