EVANSVILLE — Evansville's casino announced that its new name, Bally's Evansville, is now official.
The property was closed Tuesday and expects to reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday. The casino's main hotel also will have the Bally's name.
The property's ownership transfer from Caesar's Entertainment to Twin River Worldwide Holdings was announced in October 2020 and finalized in June of this year by the Indiana Gaming Commission.
Since last October, Twin River Worldwide Holdings obtained rights to the name Bally's and now operates as Bally's Corporation.
Casino officials have said the ownership changes resulted in no job losses. The casino did not immediately respond to Courier & Press messages Tuesday morning.
Legal gaming arrived in Evansville in 1995, with the opening of Casino Aztar, a riverboat. It was Indiana's first casino.
Casino Aztar became Tropicana Evansville in 2013. In 2017, the riverboat left and the casino moved on land, to Riverside Drive.
The land-based property has 79,000 square feet of enclosed space, including 45,000 square feet of casino floor, and two hotels.
