MUNCIE — Two local groups working to help victims of domestic violence have joined forces and will now increase services across eight Indiana counties.
Officials from A Better Way announced this week that the organization is merging with Genesis of Richmond by acquiring its assets and beginning work in Genesis' three-county service area.
This means Genesis will now operate as a part of A Better Way, and according to a press release, all Genesis staff will continue their employment with A Better Way.
Founded in the late 1970s, A Better Way is a nonprofit focused on reducing domestic abuse, sexual assault and suicide through its shelter services, crisis intervention and prevention initiatives.

According to the announcement, the merger will allow for a broader scope of services for domestic violence victims and a greater overall impact. A Better Way's services will now expand into eight counties, including Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Henry, Jay, Randolph, Union and Wayne. The merger also means the organization will have two secure residential locations for domestic violence victims, in Richmond and Muncie.
