A long-planned mixed use development will get off the ground in downtown Delphi now that the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority has approved tax credits for the project.

The state Thursday awarded to Area IV Development Inc. more than $700,000 in federal rental housing tax credits to finance construction of the affordable housing project known as Canal Commons.

The economic incentives will bring to life a development first proposed as part of Delphi’s Stellar Communities projects, Mayor Randy Strasser said.

Keller Development of Fort Wayne is serving as general contractor, and working with Area IV Development, according to Donna Collier, Area IV housing specialist.

Here, Collier describes the project.
