Everyone’s life changed in 2020.
But for Nichole Smith, those changes were good.
After getting out of a relationship, Smith moved to Bloomington in early 2020 to stay with family. She was unemployed. But then she took a local three-week program that led to the job she has today.
“It opened a door that I didn’t even know existed,” she said.
The program Smith participated in is the biomanufacturing technician apprenticeship, developed by Hoosier Hills Career Center in partnership with Ivy Tech Community College and three local biomanufacturing companies. The three-week program at the Indiana Center for the Life Sciences on Bloomington’s west side is available to anyone 18 or older and runs eight hours a day, Monday through Friday.
