SOUTH BEND — Three Rivers Health, based in southern Michigan, and Beacon Health System, based in northern Indiana, have signed a letter of intent to have Three Rivers Health join Beacon Health System in the spring of 2021, pending final approvals.

Three Rivers Health operates a 60-bed facility in Three Rivers, and 16 clinics at various locations throughout St. Joseph and Kalamazoo counties and employs more than 550 people.

The nonprofit health care center offers outpatient services along with specializations in orthopedics, emergency medicine, women’s health and rehabilitation services.

Beacon Health System is the largest locally owned and operated nonprofit health care system in the region with more than 7,000 associates and 1,100 physicians.

Beacon has a full array of clinical expertise in trauma, orthopedics, heart, vascular and cancer care and is also a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
