MUNCIE – Two Ball State University professors want to show Hoosiers, and ultimately the entire country, just how green the state of Indiana is.

Sustainability successes dot the central Indiana landscape, especially those in proximity to the Muncie campus. A project initiated in separate BSU classrooms a semester apart will hopefully tell the story of those successes and plot them on a map.

Adam Kuban, a journalism professor
, challenged his Fall 2021 students to tell the stories of a dozen or so sustainability efforts in the Delaware County area. Adam Berland wanted his Spring 2022 geography students to then create a digital showcase of those particular entities.

Over the course of the next few Sundays, several of Kuban’s upper-level students will present their stories in The Star Press, accounts first incubated in the classroom with the professor serving as their lead editor. The students researched possibilities, pitched ideas and set out to produce published articles.

Throughout the month of November, a number of sustainability concepts across Delaware County and central Indiana will be featured. Two appear in today’s edition.
