In his opening remarks during a virtual news conference Friday, IU Health South Central Region President Brian Shockney said people who can’t make it to their COVID-19 vaccination appointment need to let someone know by phone or email.

“Don’t skip the appointment,” he said.

But what happens if someone does?

Shockney and Penny Caudill, Monroe County Health administrator, said that rarely happens. And in the few instances when someone doesn’t show up and can’t be reached, there are options.

“We are not wasting vaccines,” Caudill said.
