MARTINSVILLE — Monday night's Morgan County Board of Commissioners meeting started an hour late due to the county council meeting, scheduled earlier that evening, ran late.

At the meeting, the Morgan County Economic Development Corp. offered a presentation on single-family homes in Morgan County.

Representatives from MIBOR, an organization of realtors in central Indiana, and the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis discussed the lack of affordable single-family homes in the county.

Their numbers showed that in September, there were 113 single-family homes sold, a number which number declined to 91 in October.

There were several reasons for the decline, they said.

One of the biggest is that new-home starts have been falling behind for years. 

The subdivisions and there costs are Collette Acres for $270, County View for $300, Rolling Vista for $450, Anwood for $270, Morgan Trails for $450 and Keller Heights for $270,

Commissioner Bryan Collier asked if the highway department could find out why the other contractors did not submit bids for the work.

The bids from Wallace Construction were taken under advisement and could be awarded at the board's meeting on Dec. 6.
