MUNCIE -- The Democratic majority on Muncie city council has won the budget battle against Republican Mayor Sharon McShurley.

In a Friday-evening meeting, the council voted 6-3 to override 29 line-item vetoes Mayor Sharon McShurley made to the 2010 budget.
