Thanks to a $2.5 million gift from the Robert and Judith Atlas Family Foundation, the ground floor of Purdue Memorial Union will be named for the Atlas family.

The Purdue University Board of Trustees on Friday, according to the university, approved the naming of the 67,000-square-foot ground floor. The area of Purdue Memorial Union, which opened in 1924, will be known as the Atlas Family Marketplace.

According to a release, the transformed space in the union, a campus landmark that opened in 1924, will offer added modern amenities, including:

  • Eleven new dining venues, including a sports bar owned by Purdue alumnus Drew Brees.
