Indiana University's trustees have approved increasing undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees for Indiana residents by 1% at the Bloomington campus and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis for each of the next two academic years.

IU's regional campuses — IU East, IU Kokomo, IU Northwest, IU South Bend and IU Southeast — will see 1.45% increases each of the next two academic years.

The board of trustees’ decision came during a special meeting Wednesday that followed a virtual mandatory tuition forum where the public was allowed to submit questions or comments via email. Student Trustee Molly Connor cast the lone dissenting vote.

“These recommended increases are the lowest tuition and fee increases at IU in more than 40 years,” IU President Michael McRobbie said. “Even with this modest increase, IU’s tuition rates would remain below the national average for four year public institutions.”

The increase means tuition and mandatory fees at IU Bloomington and IUPUI would increase by $112 and $99, respectively, in the 2021-22 academic year. For in-state students at the IU Bloomington campus, this means tuition and fees will increase from $11,221 to $11,333 for the 2021-22 school year. Regional campuses will see a $112 increase in the 2021-22 academic year.
