To help with the flow of downtown, Mayor Chad Frank is looking at making several streets one-way and will be providing a new parking system.

“We have a problem with parking and we are trying to find solutions to that. We also have issues with traffic flow downtown, that is also on the list of things we need to improve,” Frank said. “From Fourth to Seventh Street we would like to change traffic flow and Eastern to Grand Avenue.

“We are looking at taking the lights out. Central Avenue will be straight lines with no turn lanes. We will make some streets one-way. People have said this will congest traffic but that is what we want. We want to slow the speed limit down, right now people fly down those streets.”

Frank said doing away with turn lanes will add parking spots. he also said there will be a lot of vegetation and plants to spruce up downtown as well.

The mayor will be presenting the project in three parts, he will advertise for taking stop lights out, speed limit reduction and one-ways.

“We are trying to create a safer environment by slowing traffic down and creating more parking spots. I want people who are coming downtown to be here for a reason, to have a place to park and stay here. If you are just coming through to get from point A to point B you can take Eastern or Western Avenue.”
