The Boone County Economic Development Corp. (EDC) announced the launch of its new lifestyle brand, Boone Living.

The resident-focused marketing efforts include a newly designed portion of the EDC’s website, a lifestyle blog featuring local contributors, and an ongoing series of short videos that highlight unique impact stories from Boone County employers, residents, and employees.

Chassity Neckers, director of marketing and communication for the EDC, said the idea of the site was to highlight the unique live-here-play-here aspect of Boone County.

“One of the pivotal ways that we created this lifestyle brand is that we wanted the people to speak for it. It was just allowing the people who live here, to talk about why they live here and work here,” Neckers said. “We have a mix of suburban and as well as rural and it’s really capitalizing on the mix of people and lifestyles and jobs that we have in Boone County.”

The decision to create targeted marketing around Boone County’s unique lifestyle was to improve the overall business and workforce attraction efforts and goals set by the Boone EDC.

“It’s also meant for people who are maybe looking for a job here or they’ve gotten a job here and are maybe looking for a place to live around Indy,” Neckers said. “This is a great place to live. We’re about 30 minutes from downtown. We’re close to Lafayette. It’s just a good location for a variety of industries. It’s geared toward people looking to come to the area, whether that be for work or just to visit and play.”

Boone EDC Executive Director Molly Whitehead added, “This last year taught us that we can live and work anywhere. As this trend develops, research has shown that people will explore areas just outside major cities to make their move. Boone County is uniquely positioned for this opportunity given our proximity to I-65, Lafayette, and downtown Indy. This effort is one way we can show potential employers, workers, and residents what life could be like when they move here.”

The EDC said Boone County’s six ag-urban communities reflect a variety of industries, passions, and pursuits making a lifestyle blog the right vehicle to showcase the county’s quality of life. Blog topics will include home improvement, local restaurant features, retail and shopping tips, exciting events for weekend plans, and wellness.

“We have about eight writers right now who are various people throughout the community,” Neckers said. “We’ve got some business owners, people who are into music and art, and some young moms focusing on that family aspect of how it is to raise a child here and the different activities we have around the towns.”
